First Electric Bus Service Launched in Saudi Arabia
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has taken a step towards sustainable transportation with the launch of its first electric bus service.
The launch was inaugurated by Dr. Al-Rumih bin Muhammad Al-Rumih, the Acting Chairman of the Public Transport Authority, in Jeddah on Thursday.

Aims of the Project
The Saudi government is aiming to reduce carbon emissions by 25% by 2030, and the launch of the electric bus is a significant step towards achieving this goal.
The public transport authority has stated that the electric bus is highly efficient and consumes less than 10% of electricity compared to other electric buses.

The electric bus service is operated by the Saudi Public Transport Company (SAPTCO). The Chairman of SAPTCO, Khalid Al-Haqeel, was also present at the opening ceremony.
Route and Coverage of the First Electric Bus Service
The electric bus will cover a distance of 300 kilometres on a single charge, and its route will be from Balad to Al-Khaldiyya.
The bus will pass through several neighbourhoods, including Al-Khaldiyya, Roza, Andalus, Rawis, Al-Baghdadiyya, and others, providing a convenient mode of transportation to the residents.
Expansion of Public Transport Services
The public transport authority and the municipality are working together to provide public transport services in medium-sized cities such as Jazan, Sabya, Abu Arish, Taif, and Al Qasim.
Arrangements for public transport have already begun in these cities. The project will be implemented this year and will bring much-needed convenience to the residents of these cities.
Facilities for Local Citizens and Resident Foreigners
In addition to medium-sized cities, the facility of public transport will also be provided to local citizens and resident foreigners in other cities, including Tabuk and Al-Ahsa.
